Most coaches usually stick to traditional motivation tactics to get their teams ready for postseason games. New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton, however, decided to motivate his players for their first postseason game in a less-traditional way.

According to sources inside the organization, Payton strolled into the Saints’ locker room Wednesday morning with the franchise’s first Lombardi Trophy stacked on a pile of $225,000 in cash with just one message for his players: “Win three F’n games.”

Was it just a bit excessive and little over the top? Probably, but it may have actually resonated with the players in the locker room, according to running back Mark Ingram.

The Saints will begin their quest for a Super Bowl title this weekend when they take on the pesky Philadelphia Eagles at home. New Orleans is heavily favored, but it won’t be an easy win based on how the Birds have played lately.
